Spinal Arthritis
Everyone knows about arthritis in the hands or feet. Okay, maybe not everyone, but most people. But arthritis in the spine might be a type of arthritis that not even most of those people have ever heard of.
Though, maybe you have heard of it, but you weren’t aware that the condition was a type of arthritis. Here is a list of names you may have heard it referred to as:
- Osteoarthritis
- Degenerative joint or disc disease
- Subluxation degeneration
Over time, there is a deterioration in the spine, which begins with a misalignment in the upper neck vertebrae. Those are the top two bones, also called your upper cervical spine, and it cane take more than a decade to develop.
Of course, it’s easy to ignore that slight pain, especially when we’re younger, but that slight pain due to a head or neck trauma, can lead to serious complications. Your body will try to stabilize damaged joints by splinting bones that make up that joint using calcium to fill it. That calcium build up then causes abnormal bone growth, which results in subluxation degeneration.
Aligning Your Spine
To avoid that process, you will need to make sure your spine is aligned, especially your upper cervical spine. That means you will want to seek out the care of an upper cervical chiropractor, so they can examine your upper cervical spine as soon as possible. They will examine your upper cervical spine for any misalignments and make any needed adjustments to align thus reducing the chances of degeneration of your spine.
