Understand Your Body

Sometimes our bodies go through physical changes that we don’t always understand. Some of those changes are natural and occur because the body is cleansing itself (such as during a woman’s menstrual cycle), keeping infections from invading us, ridding our bodies of infections or bacteria, or just growing.

Though, there are times our bodies experience changes that may be signs of complications in our bodies that we don’t want to ignore. Sometimes, certain complications, unfortunately, may be symptomatic of multiple sclerosis (MS), and those are symptoms you don’t want to ignore.

So, what are those symptoms? Well, here’s a list of some of those conditions that may be a sign of MS.

Symptoms of Multiple Sclerosis

  • Loss of sensitivity
  • Changes in sensation (tingling, numbness, muscle weakness)
  • Very pronounced muscle reflexes
  • Muscle spasms
  • Difficulty moving
  • Poor coordination
  • Problems with balance (Ataxia)
  • Problems with speech
  • Difficulty swallowing
  • Visual problems
  • Cognitive problems
  • Depression
  • Severe mood swings

Multiple Sclerosis Triggers

So, one of the misunderstandings about Multiple Sclerosis is that it will always leave a person completely paralyzed for the rest of their life. That is just not true. A person may experience a worsening of symptoms over a period of days or weeks, but those symptoms often subside.

Only 10 – 15% of people who have MS experience symptoms that continually worsen over time and they never go into remission. Those 85% who experience a worsening of symptoms of MS may experience them because of various underlying conditions including colds, influenza, and gastroenteritis.

If you are exhibiting any of the above symptoms, have other reason to believe you might have multiple sclerosis, or have been diagnosed with MS, the last thing you will want to do is nothing. The best thing you can do is to seek the care of an upper cervical chiropractor. A misalignment in your upper neck vertebrae can cause various conditions throughout your body due to a miscommunication between your body and your brain. That miscommunication can lead to nerve damage, the brain not receiving the right blood flow, or more. An upper cervical chiropractor can examine your upper neck vertebrae for any misalignments that may be leading to a variety of symptoms associated with multiple sclerosis.
